Faculty & Staff Recruitment
Top tier academic surgeons can bring renown and expertise to a community cardiac program.
A surgeon's involvement in important clinical research, leadership in the operating room, and skill in performing highly sought-after procedures add up to a reputation for excellence and leadership within the referral community, and ultimately, increased revenues.
Columbia HeartSource is able to attract experienced candidates from across the country for a leadership position in a HeartSource client program (from around the world for a pediatric cardiac program).
Dr. Alex Zapolanski relocated from San Francisco to join the team at Valley Hospital in New Jersey, where the program is thriving.
Dr. Hugh Dennis, a surgeon from Florida, moved to South Carolina, where he restored volume at St. Francis Hospital.
Dr. Joseph Auteri, a Columbia-trained cardiothoracic surgeon, moved from Arizona to Virginia to start the surgical program at Maryview. |
With decades of experience recruiting surgeons to its Department of Surgery faculty, Columbia has developed expertise in screening candidates for clinical and professional capability.
- Working closely with the client to identify and recruit highly competent cardiac surgeons and make an appropriate match, Columbia HeartSource draws upon the Department of Surgery's in-depth knowledge of the cardiac surgery community as a whole, as well as the skilled surgeons trained in the cardiac surgery residency program at Columbia.
- We target surgeons who understand how to relate to a referral community and who are capable of providing leadership both within their cardiac program and in the clinical affairs of the institution as a whole.
- Each surgeon that Columbia HeartSource helps to recruit is given a Columbia faculty appointment, as are qualified surgeons already on a client's staff.
In addition to surgeon recruitment, Columbia HeartSource assists in the recruitment of support personnel essential for the operation of a cardiac surgery program.
